This (short shaft) Les Paul wiring harness is wired the same way it was in the 1950s: the so-called 'golden era of guitars'. It works by allowing you to roll off the volume, but still being able to retain the same tone. Unlike modern wiring, in which, when you roll off the volume it often gets muddy and the 'highs' are lost. This wiring solves that problem.

The best components, are used:

  • 4 CTS custom 'True Vintage Taper' (TVT) split-shaft 500k pots
  • K40Y-9 NOS capacitors - the same capacitor Luxe uses in their reproduction Bumblebees.
  • Bus wire grounding all pots

There is a choice of capacitor values:

  • Option 1: 0.022uF in the bridge and 0.022uF in the neck
  • Option 2: 0.022uF in the bridge and 0.015uF in the neck
  • Option 3: 0.022uF in the bridge and 0.010uF in the neck
  • Option 4: 0.015uF in the bridge and 0.015uF in the neck
  • Option 5: 0.015uF in the bridge and 0.010uF in the neck
  • Option 6: 0.010uF in the bridge and 0.010uF in the neck

Before spending ridiculous amounts on boutique pickups, consider upgrading your electronics first. It will open up your stock pickups and you'll notice it's easier to utilise your volume and tone controls effectively - the way you want.

This is a Swithcraft switch pre-wired with vintage-style braided wire or plastic coated wire. It comes with a Switchcraft jack too.

Often, stock switches are unreliable and can work intermittently - not with Switchcraft - they are the highest quality switches available to the guitar market. The braided wire is the same type of wire they used in the 50s (the so-called golden era of guitars) so you can keep the vintage look, or you can choose what Gibson use currently, and go with the plastic coated wire.

The same can be said about the jacks - they're notoriously unreliable. Switchcraft will not let you down though.
